DAWRIC: Direct Action for Women

‘Reform, Inclusion and Confidence’

The EU-funded project "Direct Action for Women: Reform, Inclusion and Confidence" ("DAWRIC") organized its fifth and last workshop at arcenciel center in Taanayel- Bekaa.

A series of introductory workshops were simultaneously held in the North, South, Nabatieh, Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Bekaa areas to introduce DAWRIC's objectives and activities and the mechanism that will be adopted to build and sustain partnerships between the municipalities, the British Council and the EU Delegation.

The project supports the development of English, entrepreneurship and vocational skills for women country-wide. Following this, as part of the British Council's Active Citizens training approach, they will implement social action projects within their communities, responding to particular needs and empowering more women to be agents of change. DAWRIC's activities will focus on strengthening the capacity of women's organisations to mobilise and advocate for change, as well as assist local authorities in addressing the most pressing needs of marginalised women, leading to greater representation and the provision of better access to livelihoods.

A two-year European Union project, co-funded with the British Council, DAWRIC aims to build the capacity of women and provide broad-based support for their active involvement in public life to combat poverty and encourage greater women's participation and representation in economic and political life.
