‘Being 20’: OPEN Media Hub

Video Journalists to Apply for Production Support

The EU-funded OPEN Media Hub has launched a Call for Expression of Interest for Production Support, a scheme to enable TV and online video journalists in the European Neighbourhood to create content related to the European Union and their countries’ relations with the EU. The scheme is now open in the east for Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and in the south for Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Jordan, and Tunisia.

Journalists are invited to apply for funding to produce short (1’30” up to 1’45’’) TV and video stories on the topic of “Being 20”. The call aims to produce media content related to the lives of the people in their 20s. The videos should address questions, such as what is it to be 20, what defines that generation the most, and how they apprehend the challenges in their professional and personal lives.

Besides financial support, media professionals will benefit from practical guidance to produce these stories, as well as to disseminate contents at an appropriate quality level. This entire programme aims at delivering greater public awareness of the actions and impact of the European Neighbourhood Policy and strengthening domestic and local audience interest in EU issues; it also seeks to increase the amount of analytic, in-depth quality programming.

The call is open to news organisations, journalistic organisations, audio-visual production companies, and individual journalists, including freelance.

The deadline for submissions is 29 September, 2017.

The OPEN Media Hub project, funded under the OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, aims at creating a virtual media hub spanning the EU’s two neighbourhood regions – south and east – in order to contribute to the development of independent media and to a more accurate presentation of EU policies, through the creation of a network of journalists. It provides skills to journalists and media managers through the fostering of professional networks, the provision of hands-on workshops, of journalist exchanges and support to audio-visual and online production... more
