Concept Note: Methods & Techniques

Introduction
Funding Agencies have recently begun to encourage the use of concept notes as a way for applicants to obtain feedback on their ideas and projects.
The major purpose from the agencies’ point of view is to help those applicants develop more competitive projects and to save time by eliminating those that are not likely to be funded.
However, the applicants' purpose in developing a concept note is to capture the interest of the funder and demonstrate that the idea proposed is worthy of further consideration.
Through it, applicants can tell the reader what the project is, why it is important, and how it will be carried out which enables the related agencies to assess how well it fits with their direct interests.

Target Audience
Activists involved in the development process
Fundraisers
Program Developers
Funding Liaison Officers

Learning Objectives
A good concept note doesn't just outline what impact or service you would like to create or deliver. It does so in such a way that the reader feels it is the only logical choice.
The concept note workshop will take participants through each step of the process, from understanding why they are writing; to gathering information; to proofreading; through to creating the final, professional product.
