Introduction
This half day workshop focuses on the use of reporting techniques in the service of human rights. It helps participants apply unbiased critical skills to covering human rights events. It offers an effective and comprehensive tool for covering the pre and post data collection phases while technically coping with the investigation process.
 
Target audience
The presentation is designed to offer human rights activists, journalists, reporters as well as social workers with a guideline on the best practices in the field of human rights reporting.

Deal with incidents from a typical human rights perspective
Apply professional interview with human rights victims
Collect reliable and useful information

Trainer: Melkar el-Khoury
Melkar el-Khoury works in Human Rights, Legal Research and Political Management. He is an expert in the fields of democracy and human rights education and has extensive experience in monitoring and defending human rights. He is also a member of the Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights/Lebanon’s Executive Committee.
Mr. el-Khoury has worked as a consultant for the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), and is the author of several political and academic articles in addition to a publication on humanitarian law and civilians’ rights in internal conflicts.
He is a visiting lecturer in the Faculty of Political Science at the Messina University in Italy and is a US State Department Alumni.
Mr. el-Khoury holds a B.A in Lebanese law from the Lebanese University and an M.A. in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Malta and the Wallenberg Institute/Lund University- Sweden.
Mr. el-Khoury is currently working as Legal Research Affiliate on the project of the Acquisition and Loss of Nationality: The Case of Lebanon, a joint project between the Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC) and the European Union Democracy Observatory (EUDO).
