This project “Transferring (Feet) Head Heart Hands Youth Methodology to (Middle) East” (THYME) is focusing on global citizenship and its education, democracy, and sustainable development. That goes in line also with European Youth Goals.

THYME aims at developing the awareness of youth as global citizens, and enabling them to explore how can they influence a local community to be more sustainable. Their local community will be their point of departure to explore can it be smarter and more sustainable.

It’s a two years’ project. It will support active citizenship and ethics, as well as foster the development of social and intercultural competences, critical thinking and media literacy. The focus will also be on raising awareness on and understanding the European Union context in the world.

THYME mainly seeks to promote equal opportunities and access, inclusion and fairness across all its activities. To implement these principles, an Inclusion and Diversity Strategy has been devised to support a better outreach to participants from more diverse backgrounds, in particular those with fewer opportunities facing obstacles to participate. The consortium designed accessible and inclusive activities, taking into account the views of participants with fewer opportunities (50%-80% of participants will be with fewer opportunities).

Moreover, this project provides opportunities to “Engage” youth through increase intercultural and global competences. As important as being a citizen of a democracy in their own country, it is important that youth experience that it is possible to participate and influence in global contexts and do that with people coming from different cultures.

In addition, it will develop awareness of young people as citizens, both on a local and international level. Youth will be acting as individuals, not just passive to challenges they might face in the future. Investigate and find concrete, sustainable solutions to challenges in their local community.

Therefore, THYME is planning to transfer “(Feet) Head Heart Hands” proven Youth Methodology (detailed explanation of the methodology is below) to the area through a series of activities. First the European partners will host trainers from partner countries to train them on how to use the methodology, in a job shadowing model. After that, the European youth workers will go to the partner countries and apply the methodology (different workshops) with youngster form the partner countries, training other youth workers alongside the process. And the end, the European partners will host the youth (who participated in the activities in the Arab area) to make them work with youth from Europe, in a youth mobility model.

The Consortium is comprised of: EITD – Italy, Scholas – Spain, Jordan Youth Innovation Forum (JYIF) – Jordan, Caritas – Lebanon, and the Lebanese Development Network (LDN) – Lebanon.
