On December 9th and 10th 2021, The International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME) held the 17th INSME Annual Meeting at the Grand Hotel Millennium in Sofia, Bulgaria in collaboration with the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), and the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB).

It revolved around the theme “SMEs as Drivers of a Sustainable Recovery” with the participation of experts from INSME members and OECD delegates.

The event was inaugurated by the President of INSME Sergio Arzeni who stressed the importance of such gathering which constitutes a great opportunity to explore the Members’ new initiatives and projects as well as to discuss the core activities that INSME is willing to develop across 2022.

The discussion panels tackled a series of topics such as: SMEs and Entrepreneurship in South-East Europe, Tackling the post-Covid-19 Recovery, The Role of Development Banks in Supporting SMEs and The Twin Transition toward Digitalization and Sustainability.

The meeting constituted a special occasion to deeply analyze the role of organizations representing SMEs and start-ups in addressing the post - COVID recovery and the role of development banks and SME agencies in supporting SMEs, focusing particularly on the entrepreneurship world of South-East Europe.

On December 10th 2021, the General Assembly took place where two new members were announced to join the Board.

The closing remarks were delivered by INSME Secretary General, Giovanni Zazzerini.

The International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises – INSME is a legally recognized not-for-profit association working under the auspices of the OECD – Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The Association gathers innovation and technology transfer stakeholders including governmental bodies, international organizations, NGOs, business support organizations, chambers of commerce on an international scale.
