Under the high patronage of H.E minister of public health, Dr. Firas Abiad, the National Diabetes Organization, DiaLeb in partnership with Global Liver Institute organized a health day, on the occasion of International NASH day, followed by a lecture on June 14, 2023 at the Issam Fares Auditorium, American University of Beirut.

In collaboration with the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) MENA, Lebanese Medical Students International Committee (LEMSIC), AUB’s Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences (FAFS), and the Lebanese Order of Dietitians, the health day consisted of free blood glucose testing, free HbA1c testing, nutrition consultations, body composition and lipid profiles and more.

For over 12 years, DiaLeb has focused on raising diabetes awareness and preventing its complications. Given the strong relationship and common risk factors between diabetes and liver diseases, DiaLeb has partnered with Global Liver Institute for the past three years.

“Awareness is essential for the community as well as healthcare professionals," said Dr. Jackie Maalouf, Founder & President of DiaLeb; VP of International Diabetes Federation. “It is the core of our mission to serve the community by offering educational sessions and health days to prevent diabetes and its coeaibmplications, such as NAFLD/NASH and others.”

The lecture then began with introductions from the master of ceremony, Christine Maalouf; remarks from Dany Faysal, VP for External Affairs at LeMSIC; remarks from Giacomo Donnini, Program Director at Global Liver Institute; remarks from Dr. Jackie Maalouf; remarks from Dr. Mohamad Sandid, Chair, IDF MENA; and remarks from Dr. Mona Ousman representing H.E. minister of public health Dr. Firas Abiad.

Showcasing the different perspectives for prevention and management, the program continued with multidisciplinary presentations from experts in the field including Dr. Jackie Maalouf, Founder & President of DiaLeb; Dr. Mona Nasrallah, Associate Professor, Endocrinology; Dr. Yasser Cheaib, Professor, Gastroenterologist; Dr. Marouan Zoghbi, Family Medicine; and Dr. Dima Kreidieh, Assistant Professor, Clinical Dietitian.

Audience included medical students, dietitians, media personalities, people living with type 2 diabetes, and the general public.
